How Kivo works

A name, an email address, a password of at least 12 characters holding an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a digit, and the area you want local updates for. Kivo asks for nothing else.

Kivo School, if you have deadlines. A single assignment with a due date gives the home brief something to plan around, and adding a route in Kivo Commute immediately turns that deadline into a departure time.

No. The demo corpus loads into a separate account and only when the server is started with the demo flag set. Your account starts empty.

Kivo reads the nearest open deadline from School, your default route from Commute, the advisories filed for your area in Local, the tasks linked to that deadline in Life, and the month's totals from Money. Each line names the services it drew from, and links to the one you would change.

A line is written only while the data supporting it exists. Marking every task done removes the task line; deleting your last route removes the departure line from the deadline paragraph.

It is computed on each page load from your records at that moment, and the timestamp under the greeting states when it was read.

A budget is a monthly limit, so Kivo compares it against the totals recorded in the current calendar month. Setting a limit for a category you have already spent in shows the bar filled to that point straight away.

Kivo Commute computes them from the hour of departure, the weekday pattern, your travel mode and the advisories and weather notices filed for your area. Transport bulletins are shown as context and leave the estimate as it is, because such a notice can announce extra services as readily as a disruption. Walking is treated as steady through the day; car and ride-hail are the most sensitive to peak hours. Kivo reads no live traffic feed, and every number is labelled an estimate.

It tells the brief that this task is preparation for that deadline. The deadline line then counts how many preparation tasks are still open, which is the difference between a reminder and a plan.

Both are live. The weather is a current reading from Open-Meteo for your area, refreshed every ten minutes and labelled with the time it was observed. The headlines come from Rappler's public feed and a Philippine news search that carries ABS-CBN, the Inquirer and others, refreshed every fifteen minutes. Kivo shows the headline, publisher and time, and links out; the story stays on the site that wrote it. Nothing is stored, and when a source is unreachable the panel is left out rather than showing something stale.

Yes. When the live reading for your area reports rain, Kivo Commute raises the estimate — more for car, ride-hail and bus than for walking — and the reason line under the estimate says so. Traffic itself is still modelled rather than measured; no free live traffic feed exists without an API key.

Every Kivo account with the same area. Posts you file are labelled as an account submission, so a reader can tell them apart from an operator bulletin.

Open Privacy and data and use the export button. It returns every record tied to your account as JSON, including expenses, budgets, courses, coursework, tasks and routes.

Use the contact support button in the corner of any page and choose the data topic. Support processes deletion requests to the address on the account.

Open Account from the navigation. Kivo asks for your current password before it accepts a new one, and the change signs out every other device on the account while keeping you signed in where you are.

The browser asks your permission, and only then reads your position. The coordinate is rounded to about 11 metres and sent to Kivo's own server, which resolves a place name through OpenStreetMap and hands it back for you to accept or edit. Kivo stores the text in the field, never the coordinate, and refusing the prompt just leaves the field to type in.

Twelve hours, after which the session expires server-side and you sign in again. Signing out deletes the session row immediately.
